Sprint 2 - week 2


Good evening,

We have a few updates for you this week:

most of the existing assets now have textures, painted in substance painter with some textures made in designer mixed in:


a couple new effects have been added to the game, the rocket trail and the transition effect for the bomb to rocket transition:


Now that the full gameloop has been added to the game there had to be some UI to navigate this game of ours. For this we made a main menu screen where the camera is pointing up to the ofrenda statue. From here we go to the lobby scene where the controls of the game are displayed until everyone in the lobby is ready to start the game. For the in game HUD we made new icons that display how many lives a player still has. Lastly we have an end scene that celebrates the winner! It also depicts the fallen heroes who have fallen in piñata warfare, where the winner has placed some nice flower wreaths on each of the players graves. The winner is kneeling down in respect for his fallen comrades. (On the other hand, there was a version where the winner would be doing a funny little dance next to the graves. Maybe we'll include this when the winner has never lost a life or something ;) We'll see if we have time to implement this little easter egg).


Also i guess we have a title we are settling by now! BoomBastic: calavera carnaval!!!


As you can see there are still a bunch of gray assets in the game. Of course is will be changing soon. We want our game to be as colorful as can be. Those gray props you are seeing are the supporting props we made to decorate the game scene and accompanying menu and end screens. These props will hopefully make the scene a whole lot more festive, with vases, flowers and flags populating the scene.
