Last sprint of production

Good evening,

this will be our last entry before the feature lock starting this week. A few work in progress features have been finished and added to the game this week:

The pick-up taco of delicious speed:

who-ever picks up the taco gets an additional charge for the dodge mechanic!

Traps:

The traps will periodically activate and slow down anyone caught in it!

The rocket boy finally made it to the stage:

As for the arena itself we finaly got to the point where all the props and assets we made are starting to get put into game! The graveyard really comes to life with the decorations being added to it dont you think? Soon we will continue to do more setdressing in addition to makeing sure that all the colors in the scene are nicely balanced.

Also the endscreen is now in full bloom with the setdressing having made a pass over it.

We decided that the victory of the player should be propperly celebrated by giving the winner a celebratory taco! A delicious treaty for the survivor.

For those more curious among you about the theme of our little game, we gathered 5 fun facts about Dia de los Muertos!

  1. Sweet Treats for the Spirits: Alongside traditional offerings like food and drinks, it is believed that spirits have a sweet tooth. To satisfy their cravings, families often place their departed loved ones' favorite candies and desserts on the ofrendas. It's a delightful way to ensure the spirits have something tasty to enjoy during their visit!
  2. Cemetery Sleepovers: In some Mexican communities, families spend the night in cemeteries during Dia de los Muertos. They set up camp near the gravesites of their loved ones and engage in activities such as singing, storytelling, and even playing music throughout the night. It's a unique and intimate way to connect with the spirits and create lasting memories.
  3. Bittersweet Bread: A special bread known as "pan de muerto" is a staple during the holiday. This sweet and delicious bread is typically flavored with orange blossom water and decorated with bone-shaped pieces of dough on top, representing the deceased. It's a tasty treat that brings a touch of whimsy to the commemorative traditions.
  4. Day of the Dead Poetry: Dia de los Muertos has inspired a rich tradition of poetic expression. People write "calaveritas" or "little skulls," which are humorous and satirical poems about the living, often poking fun at their habits and quirks. These poems are read aloud or shared with friends and family, adding a playful element to the celebration.
  5. Vibrant Path of Marigold Petals: During Dia de los Muertos, it is customary to create a path of marigold petals, known as "Flor de Cempasúchil," leading from the grave to the ofrenda. It is believed that the vibrant color and scent of marigolds guide the spirits to their offerings. This creates a visually stunning and aromatic journey for the returning souls.
