We're the 5 people working on BombTag!
Our group consists of 2 programmers and 3 artists

Our project has started and we are in our second week of development.
For this first blog post I'd like to discuss a couple things:
- The overall concept and theme for our game
- The current state of our research
Theme and concept:
BombTag, the hot potato game with a twist!
Couch co-op game where players are pitted against each other.
Be the one holding the bomb when time runs out and you lose! Or do you?
The theme will be based on the Day of the Dead event in Mexico.
The arena will take place in a graveyard where the players control a skeleton like character.
State of research
- Core movement and gameplay: testing out multiple player setup in both Unity and Unreal
- FX: the game will rely on a lot of interesting particle effects to make the game more engaging, currently we have a basis for particle effects in both Unity and Unreal. Using different types of shaders to make the explosion pop out as much as possible.
- The arena: testing out different blockout methods in both Unreal and Unity. This will be merged later with the core movement and gameplay to test out which size of map works best.
- Art style: we're still currently researching a fitting art style, more on this in a later post!
- Animation: Currently testing out procedural blendshape animations made in Houdini, currently we have a simple "spherify" effect. But will have more elaborate effects later.
Our next steps include finishing up research and working towards our first playable build!
